Meet Momoko, a "Lolita" decked out to the nines in the finest (and frilliest) of Victorian haute couture. The only scion of a drunken interlude between a cowardly yakuza and an inebriated bar-hostess, Momoko's mom has since split the scene, and, after various ill-fated scams that involve imitation brand name merchandise, Momoko's dad relocates them to the boondocks of rural Ibaraki prefecture. To escape her humdrum existence, Momoko fanaticizes about French rococo, dreams of living in the palace of Versailles, and buys all her extremely lacy clothes from an expensive Tokyo boutique.

Meet Ichiko, a tough-talking motorcycle grrrl (on a tricked-out moped) who leads a ladies-only biker gang known as the Ponytails. Together, this unlikeliest of duos strike out on a quest to find a legendary embroiderer, a journey on which they encounter conniving pachinko parlor managers, legendary street-punks, and anemic costumers. Who knows, they might just make it big...if only Ichiko would stop head butting Momoko in the forehead. Novala Takemoto's break-though novel Kamikaze Girls, already a cult-classic in Japan, is more than a wry coming-of-age picaresque, it's a new way of life.

Battle Royale
3 reading
Japanese , Seinen , Action , Drama , Psychological
Battle Royale takes place in a fictional fascist Japan in the year 1997. The state, known as the Republic of Greater East Asia, arose after an alternate World War 2 where Japan emerged victorious and a rebellion was put down by the combined military and police forces. The government controls everything, and anything "immoral", such as rock music, is banned, unless it beautifies the government, along with an unnamed dictator with a strong cult of personality able to bend the whims of the populace.

The government has established a military program, the Battle Experiment No. 68 Program, wherein fifty randomly selected classes of third-year junior high school students are kidnapped, dropped into a remote location, and forced to kill one another until only one student of each class remains. Ostensibly, it is to help the government and its military research survival skills and battle readiness – in actuality, it is meant to instill terror and distrust in all of Japan's citizens to curb any attempts at rebellion, by showcasing the government's power and ability to target citizen's families and preying on the fear of being killed by a friend.

Parallel Sailor Moon
1 reading
Japanese , Shoujo , Fantasy , Magic
The story takes place in an alternate reality from the rest of the Sailor Moon series, so it does not fit to the main storyline or canon. One of the main reasons it does not fit into the main storyline is because it is stated in the main series that Usagi Tsukino will only have one child (Chibiusa). However, the lead character created especially for this story is Usagi's second child, Kousagi Tsukino. The daughters of the other four Guardian Senshi (all in grade 3 with Kousagi) also are in the story, who look exactly like (and are named after) their mothers (though the Japanese spelling of the names are different).

(Source: Wikipedia)
Parallel Sailor Moon was originally released as part of the Materials Collection artbook and was reprinted in 2004 as part of the shinsouban second volume of short stories. The story was published in 1999, in honor of the Chinese year of the rabbit.
