Being a kid was great. If something bad happened, you could just bawl your eyes out and forget about it by dinnertime. You know the song: “If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it.” But then you grow up and now you can’t wear your heart on a sleeve anymore, and you don’t really know if you’re really happy or are you just pretending to be so you don’t draw attention to yourself. What does happy mean, again? It used to be so simple.
